The Wickford Church of England School

The Wickford Church of England School has been awarded the ‘Silver Artsmark Award’ recognising how hard the team work to support children with developing their artistic skills.

The report stated: 

‘The Wickford Church of England School has incorporated the Arts into a number of subject areas, including computing lessons, where the children look at a range of artists, such as Monet and Seurat, and create new digital artwork. 

You are committed to ensuring a basic cultural entitlement for all your children. Consequently, the curriculum is now beginning to embed diverse and inclusive experiences for learners and offer life experiences that they may not get elsewhere. Children experience several new participative events, such as going to the theatre to watch a pantomime, having several outside agencies come in, such as folk music and history through drama sessions."

'The school are listening more to learners' experiences of the Arts.  Through 'talk times' each child gets the chance to answer questions around arts subjects, which then impacts the lessons we plan and how you teach them.’
